World Book Day Aims

The Day aims to encourage and increase the number of young people reading. A decreasing number of people are reading books, especially with the expansion and development of modern technology, social media and less time spent reading, thinking and concentrating on literature, and more time focusing on digital content. Reading has however switched to things like audiobooks and digital copies of books, which also has its positives. For example, digital copies of different texts are more environmentally friendly.

World Book Day and reading in general is very important in the development of the mind, imagination and knowledge. Lessons can be learned from different books. Literature has also influenced many people and inventions. In today’s world we underestimate reading and its importance.

Firstly, let us discuss how to identify the difference in gsm’s…

‘Gsm’ stands for Grams per Square Meter, as there are a variety of different boards and papers with a wide range of different properties. Usually this term is referred to identify the weight of the paper for printer manufacturers and printers. The higher that number is the heavier the paper weighs.

The length and/or width of the paper isn’t important in terms of gsm, as paper comes in different sizes and can come in card too. E.g. if a paper weighs 55 gsm then the paper will be extremely light and thin in comparison to a paper weight of 500 gsm.

Most of the time when you are ordering paper of higher gsm then it would come in two different common finishes. Satin or Plain. The choice is yours but most of the time people would prefer to print in satin as your images may appear more professional to others.

We offer more than just satin or plain paper. We also offer these different types: Glossy Paper, Matte Paper, Satin/Semi-Gloss Paper and lastly Luster/Pearl Paper. What are the advantages of printing on glossy paper? Glossy paper has a shiny and vivid look and is of better value. Most photo albums consist of glossy paper because it is the easiest and cheapest way of printing. It can also be the best way of printing your images in terms of quality.

Things to Do For Remembrance Day

Featured

Remembrance Sunday is an important day for our nation to commemorate all of the British soldiers and service men who served in the two World Wars and the conflicts after.

What does the red poppy symbolise?

Ultimately, the Red poppy symbolises remembrance and hope for a peaceful future. However, it is rumoured that the red petals symbolise blood. The centered black dot symbolises the mourning of those who didn’t get the chance to welcome their loved ones back. Finally, the leaves symbolise growth.

It has been very difficult since the pandemic as many volunteers have gotten extremely sick and have not been able to volunteer any longer. The shortage of volunteers in charity organisations have affected many in need, not just the Poppy Appeal but since we are nearing remembrance day and remembrance Sunday, here is a couple of ideas as to what you could do to remember the brave that served this country.

  1. Make a donation.

If you cannot access locals outside of tube stations or on the streets trying to encourage others to donate then the best way to donate is through the British Legion website or you can visit your local charity shop and donate some money, in exchange, you will receive a Poppy.

  • Participate in a 2 minute silence at 11am

  • Create your own posters and frame it!

You can use our A4 or A6 Photo Paper to create posters of poppy’s or anything else that signifies Remembrance Day to you or your family. Go ahead and try to design prints e.g. Design Medals. You could even print these out using compatible Inks. They are almost the same in quality as the originals and they are cheaper. They are more environmentally friendly also.

The best printers for these are;

Canon Pixma MG3620 –

PROS: Wireless, All-In-One, Colour, Inkjet Printer, Mobile and tablet printing, home printer and Auto duplex.

Brother MFC-J491DW-

PROS:  Wireless, All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Multi-Function Colour Printer, Duplex Printing, Mobile Printing, Amazon Dash and Affordable Printing.

Epson Eco Tank-

PROS: Wireless Colour, All-in-One Cartridge-Free Super tank Printer, Scanner, Copier, Ethernet, Save 90% Replacement Ink Cost

It is incredibly important to learn the history of our country, especially those who served to make this country great.
