Tackle your printer if it does not recognise your Compatible Cartridges

We get many questions regarding whether or not our Compatible Cartridges are going to work in your printers. The correct answer is, yes. However, just like everything else, you could stumble on a faulty cartridge or your printer not recognising the cartridge. In Today’s Blog Post, we’ll answer how to solve issues with cartridges or printers.

What is a Compatible Cartridge or a Non-Oem?

A compatible cartridge is a cartridge that is not produced by the original manufacturer. The functionalities however are almost identical.

Some issues you may have with your printer

Sometimes you will find that your printer will state that the printer cartridge is not detected. Reason being that there may be these issues;

  • The protective strips on your cartridges are still on and need to remove. If this happens, than your printer will register the new cartridge and this will cause further issues. To prevent this from happening take the cartridge out of your printer and double check to see if there are any plastic covers, strips or tabs on your cartridge.
  • You need an Internal memory reset. Your printer should automatically register your new cartridge when you install it. This allows your printer to automatically reset its internal memory. What will usually happen afterwards is your printers’ full ink and toner levels will display. It will react as if your old cartridge is inside. To fix this, remove your new cartridge and replace it with your old cartridges then wait for 10/15 minutes. Then add your new cartridge back into the printer. Usually this will resolve the issue, if not then make sure to check the surface you are inserting the cartridge in and check to see if there are any damages to your printer. If that does not work than try and turn your printer off using the power button or unplug your printer and plug it back into the wall then insert your cartridge and then turn on your printer.
  • The cartridge needs to be correctly inserted into the slot correctly. The best way to know that you insert the cartridge correctly is by listening to the click it makes when you put the cartridge into its slot. For Toner Cartridges there may be parts that can cause the toner not to sit correctly into your printer because of damage. If this happens than make sure to replace your toner as this is the only way to fix the problem.

Why Cartridges are so expensive?

Featured

-and why you should opt for compatibles.

Many printers are sold at a loss. Manufacturers tend to make their money based off supplies NOT off Inkjet printers. Cartridges are popular for being expensive; actually, Cartridges are more expensive than gold and Russian caviar! This has to do with the extensive research and development involved in creating them. A group of engineers and chemists that are experts in this field are the ones to plan and create products that consumers are in demand for. The idea for experts is to create good quality ink or/and toners for images to be true to life as possible.

Big brands such as Canon, Epson or HP tend to focus a lot of their time in creating the best blend for their Inks, so that they are the best quality. This majority of their Inks are just a mixture of food dye and water. However, the consistency of their Inks are the most important part, as well as making the Inks water resistant, fast drying and smudge proof.

HP spend a lot of their time and money ($1 Billion a year) – Yes. You read that correctly. On research and development so that they can come out with a single or multiple products depending on their budget. Nonetheless, there are always better-valued versions of almost anything in every industry. Fortunately in this industry, we offer what we call ‘Compatible and/or remanufactured cartridges’. 2. You may need to change your font- Sometimes your font choices can save you 30% of your ink cartridge. Having fonts like Calibri as opposed to Arial can save you a lot of ink. Another beneficial point to make is the less bold text the better.
  3. Buy Multipacks – Buying multipacks or bundles of cartridges can save you considerably a lot of money over time. This is because most companies sell larger packs of discounted cartridges so that you can buy more overtime.
  4. Use your Inks! – When you do not use your ink cartridges, your ink can tend to dry up. If you keep up with your printing, you can save yourself the hassle of buying another Ink Cartridge.
  5. Buy our compatibles – this may be obvious, but buying compatibles is almost like buying an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer. Our compatibles as they are cheaper than any OEM on the market with almost the same quality prints.
  6. Colour or Black – Having a black compatible Ink Cartridge is always best to have. I consider having black even when printing in colour as having a black Ink Cartridge is the staple of printing good quality images. You can still create black using the other colours (cyan, magenta and yellow) combined; however, there would not be any point to this if you already own a black compatible Ink Cartridge.

Ghost Printing – What is it?

Featured

Ghost printing is when you print out images or text that repeats itself onto the printing paper more than once. This happens when your drum or fuser unit becomes a faulty. This can also happen in new printers but are most common in laser printers or older printers.

The reason Ghost Printing occurs is due to the particles in the drum or fuser unit not being hot enough to produce a better quality image or text. This can be quite frustrating when you are printing out important documents and need the quality to be greater. Static Electricity interrupts the electric charges from the lasers of your printer, which results in the duplication of text or image on the same page.

Ghost Printing can happen from anything but this will not prevent your print quality from getting worse over time. To check to see if your printer is Ghost Printing, check your printers’ manual book. You can always double check the paper you are using.

Drum Unit

Nevertheless, the drum unit is the main influence to your printer ghosting. To fix this, you need to locate your drum unit on your printer. If you cannot find it, check your printers’ manufacturers’ handbook. Sometimes the main issue to your printer Ghost Printing is as simple as checking the end of life of your drum unit. If you do suspect your drum unit ending than I suggest you replace it. Sometimes the drum unit is built into the toner cartridge so it is harder to fix alone. If this is the case, than it is best to seek professional help.

To prevent the issue from arising consistently, it is probably best to check if the drum unit is the right temperature. This is essential when you are trying to repair the fuser unit yourself. You can change the temperature of your drum unit, as it will be available in the manufacturers’ code. It is important to check to see if your printer is placed anywhere with high humidity, as this can no doubt not only damage your prints but your print quality also.

Your printer may make a screeching sound and if you do hear this, there is most likely something wrong with your fuser and not your printer. The fuser unit aids the ink to stick onto the paper.

The Toner you use can also play a key role in the quality of your prints. At PremiumCompatibles, we always aim to be the best when it comes to our compatible Inks and Toners. We understand how competitive this industry can be. We offer best compatible prices. We’d also recommend getting compatibles as they can last almost the same as the originals for a much better value.

Forbes: Epson Brand #1 Sustainable

Featured

Sustainability is important when it comes to businesses. Almost every brand now has discussions based on what could better the environment. However, not every brand is successful with this. If you’ve been keeping up with news lately then you are familiar with the UN’s strategies to solve climate change. The recent COP26 Summit discussed ways they can battle against this ongoing issue and when they aim to do so. It is important as individuals to try to adapt a habit of the three R’s (Reduce, recycling and re-use) until it becomes second nature for us. Although it may not seem like you are making much of a difference, you most certainly are. Here at PremiumCompatibles we value saving the planet by remanufacturing recycled Inks.

On the topic of recent events and sustainability, Epson was listed as the number 1 best company for this. They discussed their vision for the brand within 10 years and concluded with an outcome of staying committed to contribute more to the environment so that it can create a more sustainable value.

Gas Emissions

As well as creating many printers to print with, their campaign with National Geographic ‘Turn down the Heat’ was a huge success. Epson created Heat-Free technology, which uses up to 94% less power and energy than other laser printers. You may think… “It can’t get any better than that!” well RE100 is a global initiative that brings influential businesses together to commit to renewable electricity. They have global operations with their members and work from manufacturing to fashion and pharmaceuticals. Epson has recently just joined RE100.  RE100 has already driven a lot of renewable electricity for a medium sized country. An already successful brand joining an organisation that has accomplished their own success story, makes Epson even more admirable than it already is.

Epson also announced that by 2023 they’ll meet their electricity needs through all their worldwide group sites. This is to create 100% renewable energy sources. In the US alone, Fossil fuel-generated electricity causes 27% of all greenhouse gas emission (CO2, Nitrous Oxide, Methane etc). Epson’s vision along with other brands introducing this will eventually put an end to the production of greenhouse gases.

‘Remanufacturing’ preserves the entire form of a product, in our case – our Inks and our toners. Whereas recycling involves the product being broken down into its component parts and melting or reprocessing them into new forms. All our products here are the best quality compatibles in the industry as well as being environmentally cautious and friendly.

Things to Do For Remembrance Day

Featured

Remembrance Sunday is an important day for our nation to commemorate all of the British soldiers and service men who served in the two World Wars and the conflicts after.

What does the red poppy symbolise?

Ultimately, the Red poppy symbolises remembrance and hope for a peaceful future. However, it is rumoured that the red petals symbolise blood. The centered black dot symbolises the mourning of those who didn’t get the chance to welcome their loved ones back. Finally, the leaves symbolise growth.

It has been very difficult since the pandemic as many volunteers have gotten extremely sick and have not been able to volunteer any longer. The shortage of volunteers in charity organisations have affected many in need, not just the Poppy Appeal but since we are nearing remembrance day and remembrance Sunday, here is a couple of ideas as to what you could do to remember the brave that served this country.

  1. Make a donation.

If you cannot access locals outside of tube stations or on the streets trying to encourage others to donate then the best way to donate is through the British Legion website or you can visit your local charity shop and donate some money, in exchange, you will receive a Poppy.

  • Participate in a 2 minute silence at 11am
Poppy
  • Create your own posters and frame it!

You can use our A4 or A6 Photo Paper to create posters of poppy’s or anything else that signifies Remembrance Day to you or your family. Go ahead and try to design prints e.g. Design Medals. You could even print these out using compatible Inks. They are almost the same in quality as the originals and they are cheaper. They are more environmentally friendly also.

The best printers for these are;

Canon Pixma MG3620 –

PROS: Wireless, All-In-One, Colour, Inkjet Printer, Mobile and tablet printing, home printer and Auto duplex.

Brother MFC-J491DW-

PROS:  Wireless, All-in-One Inkjet Printer, Multi-Function Colour Printer, Duplex Printing, Mobile Printing, Amazon Dash and Affordable Printing.

Epson Eco Tank-

PROS: Wireless Colour, All-in-One Cartridge-Free Super tank Printer, Scanner, Copier, Ethernet, Save 90% Replacement Ink Cost

It is incredibly important to learn the history of our country, especially those who served to make this country great.

Label Tapes

Featured

Just like Printer Ink and Toners, Label tapes also come as compatibles. It all comes down to what label is the best to use in terms of preference, size and colour. There are different types of label tapes to use. Laminated, shipping labels, Non-Laminated tapes, Fluorescent, adhesive, Iron on Fabric Tapes and many more. However, what are the most commonly used tapes?

Common Label Tape types

The most commonly used label tapes are laminated. Laminated tapes are made to stick on almost any surface. Laminated label tapes are also water resistant making it much more efficient with spills. Their durable in hot or cold conditions and are designed to endure and scratches. Fortunately, brands such as Brother, have specifically designed label tapes to withstand any chemical damages, as their aim is to take a much more scientific approach with their labels.

Brother Label Tapes

Non-Laminated label tapes are obviously much different from laminated tapes. Although there are some similarities such as the range of colours and the general indoor use, Non-Laminated tapes do not have the ability to withstand different temperatures or spills.

How to choose the perfect Label Tapes

When it comes down to labels, it will always come down to size and colour. Nevertheless, it is important to understand how the tapes are made. The tapes are put into layers, starting with the Ink on the top and separator on the bottom.

Now that you understand the gist of how label tapes work, let us discuss what they are used for; Label tapes are often used by brands to warn others, show ingredients or instruct their audiences as a part of their packaging. These labels can be used to produce shipping labels, water bottle labels, food labels etc.

What are the best labels to use and why?

A test was performed between two of the same types of tapes but with different brands. One being, ‘Dymo’ and the other being ‘Brother’. The test was a dishwasher test where both labels were placed inside a dishwasher to test their durability against temperature and water. Prior to the cycle ending, it was clear that brother had a better chance of success as the Dymo Label Tape had peeled off.

What is the difference between ‘TZ’ and ‘TZe’ Brother Tapes?

According to Brother, TZe is just a way of saying that these kinds of tapes are more environmentally friendly. The plastic weight is reduced by 15%, has smaller packaging, and is energy efficient.

What sizes can I get?

  • 9/64″ (3.5mm)
  • 1/4″ (6mm)
  • 3/8″ (9mm)
  • 1/2″ (12mm)
  • 3/4″ (18mm)
  • 1.0″ (24mm)
  • 1.5″ (36mm)

Cartridges – Answers to your Ink Questions

Featured

You have probably asked questions about cartridges that you have never really gotten the precise answers for. Today, I am going to clarify some of these questions and help you with your on-going Ink issues!

Inks
  •  Why does my Ink Cartridge always run out quickly?

The Worst feeling when printing out important documents is seeing the printer blinking. It is probably a hassle to keep spending or saving up for cartridges, especially if you use your printer/s often. One of the biggest issues people ignore when shopping online are missing the main pointers when it comes to these Ink Cartridges. The Page Yields. Most people still are unaware that each printer cartridge is made to print a certain amount of pages. Due to a lot of text and image use without any spacing, the Ink is wasted.

  • What stops my Ink Cartridge from working?

It is sometimes as simple as your Ink cartridge drying or clogging up. The best way to avoid having dry or clogged up Ink Cartridges is to avoid putting your Ink Cartridges in extremely high or low temperature places. You can also try to print at least once every week, especially if you are in no rush to print.

Another way to prevent this from happening is to try to turn your printer off properly by waiting for the printer power light to turn off. The Printer will allow the cartridges to return to its capped position.

  • How do I know if the cartridge has gone bad?

It is as easy as checking to see if your printer prints out streaky prints, smudges and/or missing colours. This is a major sign of Ink Cartridge damage. If you are lucky, your printer may warn you beforehand. Most printers like Canon or HP will inform you of this.

  • How to fix a leaking Ink Cartridge.

Best thing to do in this situation is to place your Ink Cartridges in a carrier bag after wiping them down with an alcohol-based wipe. If you decide to use a water-based solution to clean, your Ink Cartridge then this may damage your Ink Cartridges electrical components.

Dust and dirt can pile up on the cartridges at the connection point, which can often cause your cartridges to leak. If you cannot see any crack or fault in the cartridge than double check the connection point. To fix the cartridge, wrap the area with a large piece of tape, making sure that it is smooth and secure. This should prevent any more leaks.

  • How to store my cartridges.

To avoid further leaking, it’s important to ensure you store Ink Cartridges upright in a cool and dry place. This method can also help increase your Inks’ storage life.
